Scotland Tours with Accommodation

On many tours accommodation with breakfast is included in the cost.

You will be staying in a charming private home, usually hosted by the owner, where warm hospitality and personalised service come as standard. Expect thoughtful touches throughout and friendly local insight - don’t hesitate to ask your host for recommendations on hidden gems, scenic walks, and must-see attractions nearby.

Each morning, start your day with a hearty Scottish breakfast (haggis optional) or a continental spread, which may include fresh fruit, cheeses, cold cuts, pastries, and more. Special dietary needs are happily catered to, including diabetic, gluten-free, and other medically recommended diets. Please advise the tour provider directly if this is required.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements.

What’s the difference between a B&B and Guest House?

Aye Stay Guest House, Inverness

On this tour, you’ll be staying in comfortable B&B or Guest House accommodations. What’s the difference between a B&B (Bed and Breakfast) and a guest house? A B&B will usually provide lodgings for no more than 6 guests, and you’ll be staying in a private home hosted by the owner. A guest house tends to be a larger property which can have up to 10 letting rooms.

B&Bs are typically set in family homes, offering a homely feel and personal service, while guest houses may be purpose-built or in a larger property. They are usually located in residential areas outside of the town or village centre.

For a warm, personal stay with genuine hospitality, a B&B or Guest House stay offers home comforts and the opportunity to interact with locals.

What facilities can I expect?

Scottish Breakfast at Aye Stay Guest House

You can expect a warm welcome from your host and comfortable accommodation in rooms with private bathrooms. Most rooms have televisions and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and a kettle.

WiFi usually is available, but the signal strength can vary depending on the position of your room. The mobile/cell phone signal can vary depending on your location, and you may only be able to make or receive calls in certain areas.

Towels, bedding and basic toiletries, including soap and shampoo, will be provided.

B&Bs and Guest Houses typically don’t provide services such as concierge or room service, or meals other than breakfast. For health and safety reasons, there usually aren’t facilities for guests to cook their own food.

What room should I select?

There are different bedroom types to choose from. Here is what you can expect:

Single Room

Single room

This type of room accommodates one person sleeping in a single bed. Single rooms can be more compact than other room types.

A standard single bed measures 90 cm wide by 190 cm long (3 ft by 6ft 3 in)

In some cases, the host may rent a double or twin room for single occupancy.

Twin Room

Twin room

A twin room will accommodate two people, each with their own single bed. There is usually a nightstand separating the beds, but at some locations, the beds can be close together.

Each single bed will measure 90 cm wide by 190 cm long (3 ft by 6ft 3 in)

Double Room

Double room

This type of room accommodates two people sharing one large bed.

The type of bed can vary between a double bed 135 cm wide by 190 cm long (4 ft 6 in x 6 ft 3 in) or a King-size bed 150 cm wide by 200 cm (5 ft wide x 6 ft 6in long).

Family Room

Family Room

A family room accommodates 3 people, featuring a double bed and a single bed.

The standard single bed measures 90 cm wide by 190 cm long (3 ft by 6ft 3 in) and the double bed 135 cm wide by 190 cm long (4 ft 6 in x 6 ft 3 in) or King-size bed 150 cm wide by 200 cm (5 ft wide x 6 ft 6in long).

Please note that a family room can be a standard double room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed.

A limited number of family rooms sleeping four persons are available on selected tours. Please contact us for more information.

The operations team will do their best to allocate your first choice of accommodation. Please accept our apologies if this is not possible. Accommodation is typically assigned a few days before departure. Last-minute changes can be made to the allocated B&B or Guest House for operational reasons.

What do I do about arranging dinner?

Your accommodation is usually located on the outskirts of the towns and villages where the tour is overnighting. You can expect a walk of 10/15 minutes to reach the town/village centre where restaurants, pubs and other facilities are located.

Chef preparing dinner

Your driver/guide will be able to suggest a suitable establishment for dinner. If you are staying in a popular tourist destination such as Portree or Oban, we suggest making dinner reservations at your preferred restaurant. Likewise, if you wish to visit a particular restaurant in Inverness, a reservation is recommended.

Please make any reservations after 7 pm (19:00 hrs). We suggest booking between 7:30 pm (19:30 hrs) and 8:00 pm (20:00 hrs) to allow time to check in to your accommodation at the end of the touring day.

If you are travelling on an excursion to the Isle of Skye from Inverness, please note that the return time will be between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm (20:00 hrs and 20:30 hrs).

Will I be dropped off at my accommodation?

Your driver/guide will drop you off as close to your accommodation as possible. They will also arrange to pick you up close to the same spot in the morning.
