Full Tour Itinerary
Our journey to the edge of Scotland sees us cross the Cromarty Firth to Scotland’s oldest Royal Burgh, Tain, home of the Glenmorangie distillery. First stop of the day is Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve, where the eagle-eyed will enjoy the abundant wildlife.
After morning coffee in the nearby planned village of Golspie, our tour continues at the fairytale towers of Dunrobin Castle. Perched between the mountains and water, you’ll have time to explore the opulent rooms and lush gardens of this jewel in the Highland crown.
History is still all around us as we continue further north, with a stop at the Emigrants statue in Helmsdale, a poignant reminder of the Highland Clearances.
The scenery grows more wild as we enjoy lunch in the port of Wick, with its fascinating heritage centre. From here, it’s a short drive to John O’Groats for a once-in-a-lifetime snap at this historic landmark.
Then we turn south again, pausing to admire the scenery in the harbour village of Dunbeath, complete with a statue to its famous son, writer Neil M. Gunn.
Another charming hamlet welcomes us as we wend our way home, with Brora our final stop before crossing the Black Isle to the familiar lights of Inverness.
